It is difficult to make kids drink milk as children love to have flavored milk.Today I have very easy and simple homemade horlicks recipe to share.

How to make children drink milk? This is most question of mother as kids don’t like milk. It is really very necessary for kids to have milk atleast twice a day. Milk is full of nutrients like fats, carbohydrates , vitamins, protein and minerals. Milk is rich in vitamin B , vitamin D , vitamin A, protein, fats, calcium and phosphorus. It is necessary to keep our bones and teeth healthy. Growing children should have 500 gms of milk everyday.

My son doesn’t love plain milk. Daily adding new flavor to milk was becoming a task for me. Frankly I do not prefer packed protein powder as they are combination of nutrients and preservatives. I was searching for something which could provide flavor to milk as well as nutritive value also. Then I tried making horlicks at home. You won’t believe my son loved it. I am sharing my homemade horlicks/boost recipe with you guys.

INGREDIENTS FOR MAKING HORLICKS


Wheat flour -1 cup
Milk Powder-1/2 cup
Almonds-10 pcs
Cashew-10 pcs
Sugar -1/2 cup


For flavour

Add elachi powder 1tsp OR
Add cocoa powder 1tbsp

Directions for making horlicks


Step 1
Heat a pan and Roast wheat flour until light golden color.Then remove it from the flame and let it cool.

Step 2
Then add milk powder and mix well.

Step 3
Grind sugar , cashew and almond into fine powder.

Step 4
Add the sugar cashew and almond mix into wheat flour and mix very well. Add the flavour you want. Mix it well. keep it in a air tight container .

Step 5
Homemade Horlicks powder is ready now.

NOTE if the powder settles down in the milk then sieve the powder with muslin cloth 2 to 3 times.

How to make horlicks drink

Ingredients for horlicks drink

  • 300 ml of milk
  • 2 tbsp of Horlicks powder

Directions for horlicks drink

  • For making cold horlicks drink just put milk and horlicks powder in a blender and blend it. Put ice in a glass and pour the blended drink in it. Cold horlicks drink is ready.
  • For hot horlicks drink. Boil the milk and pour it in a mug. Add horlicks powder and stir well. Hot horlicks drink is ready.
