Raising children is not an easy task. Parents cannot be gentle with their children all the time. To make children better human beings, it is necessary to keep them in discipline. However, most parents scold or beat up children in the name of teaching discipline, which is absolutely wrong. You can also teach discipline to the child in a polite and gentle manner. Experts have given some special ways to keep children disciplined in positive ways. The technique of discipline in a positive way makes children responsible by nature so that they are able to live their life in a better way. Let’s know about it.

Behavior is bad, not children – If your child hits another child, instead of calling him a naughty and bad child, tell him that his behavior is wrong. Tell the child lovingly that he should not kill others and apologize for what he did. This will make your child understand that you love him but he also needs to change his behavior.

Show how to behave- If you notice that your child is about to do something wrong, instead of saying ‘don’t do it’, tell him what he should do. Teach your child to behave properly by showing him the right way to behave.https://0e495940c9baaf53f12c92baf17ad70f.safeframe.googlesyndication.com/safeframe/1-0-38/html/container.html?n=0

Empathize strictly – By showing empathy, children understand that you can feel their feelings. For example, if your child says, ‘The other child started the fight first or he is not sharing his ball, then you have to calmly listen to him and explain it. You tell the child that we understand that you want to play with that ball but this way of getting it is not right. Even if your child does not listen to you, but you will have to say this again and again, only then there will be a change in his behavior. Be patient with your child and don’t lose your temper.

Give time for introspection The child should also be given time for introspection. This will give the child a chance to understand where he did wrong. However, as parents, you have to remind him that this is not a punishment. The best way for this is to keep a chair in a quiet place where your child can sit for a while and think about his behaviour. This technique is also called time out technique. Remember not to leave him like this for more than five minutes at a time.

Give the child choices- This will give your child a sense of control and he won’t feel like you always tell him what to do. If your child has hit someone else, there are two options you can give. For example ask him ‘Do you want to apologize for hitting the other child or go to a time-out until you calm down?’

Convert mistakes into lessons- Can teach a child a lot from his past mistakes too. For example, if a child snatches a toy from another child, remind him how bad you felt when your friend snatched the toy with which you were playing, didn’t you? When you take something from someone, they feel the same way. This will help your child to understand the feelings of his friends.

Fix Limits–  fix some limits to children. For example, if your child likes to play, then it is a good thing but make some rules for him. For example, tell the child that she can go to play only after completing her homework, or that she can have ice cream only after she has finished all her vegetables.

Do not give orders to the child  Instead of giving orders to your child, tell what you want him to do. You can also teach him to adopt new ways to do that work. For example, if your child has left his clothes on the bed without folding them, you can ask him ‘Where should we put our clothes?’ Do not order the child to pick up his clothes and put them in the cupboard.

Teach him to cope with situations- If your child is refusing to listen to you and is still misbehaving, then you should also prepare him to face the consequences of his bad behavior. Take care not to be rude to the child.

Reward good behavior- The child should always be rewarded for good behavior. This will encourage the child to behave that way. Keep in mind that you have to reward your child and not confuse them by giving them a bribe. If you try to motivate your child by rewarding him for good behavior, it is like a bribe. Bribing children teaches them to be clever.
